I just passed the Claude Certified Developer - Foundations (CCDV-F)! 🥳 This marks my first Anthropic certification, and I’m grateful that I can take these via my employer Nitor, since Anthropic certifications are currently only available to Antrophic partners.

It felt EZPZ

As someone who has done all AI certifications from AWS already, and who uses Claude Code daily for his work as a software engineer, this certification felt really easy to me. If you have a similar background to mine, you’ll probably agree with me. I completed all 53 questions with 40 minutes to spare, and scored quite nicely: 941 (out of 1000 points).

My detailed Score Sheet for the CCDV-F exam

For preparation, I only took Matthew Purcell’s free practice exam. The questions felt really easy to me and I only failed two of them in his practice exam. Seeing this, I didn’t bother to do any extra prep. Anthropic has a bunch of online courses you can take if you want to prepare more thoroughly though.

Relevance of the Cert

Even though the exam felt super easy, I do believe everything that was being asked is very relevant to a software developer in the current AI era. I have encountered many of the proposed scenarios and problems in my day-to-day job, so this is not just an academic and theoretic certification. It’s funny, because if I took this exam 3 years ago, I would have no clue how to answer these questions. But then again, we did things very differently in the software industry 3 years ago (Anthropic and Claude were very different back then too). Maybe that’s also why Anthropic certs expire after one year. I hope Anthropic allows us to renew them without having to resit the exams!

What’s Next?

Nitor pays me to get certifications, and seeing what Matthew Purcell and others say about the Anthropic certs, I think it makes sense for me to get all four. I probably won’t need to prepare a lot for any of the other 3 certifications either. Maybe I will even try the online proctored way! So far I have always gone to a test center for AWS certifications (and for this one too), but here in Helsinki your only options are almost always at 9 o’clock in the morning outside of the city, in Espoo. I often sleep badly when I have high stakes appointments in the morning! Seeing that these certs are not super demanding, it probably makes sense to take them from a dummy Lenovo Thinkpad laptop provided by my employer, at a more comfortable time of the day.

I also have in my mind to take the AWS AI Business Strategist (AIB-C01) certification soon, even if I think it’s nonsense for AWS to be the vendor of this cert. I noticed that both in Matthew Purcell’s practice exam and in the CCDV-F exam itself I actually failed the questions having to do with business requirements. I probably need to refresh/relearn the business lingo!

Are you preparing to take or have already taken Anthropic certifications? Was your experience similar to mine?
